Tonight is the opening for the compounds group art show "Nightmare on Wood St."
Compound members Miriam Singer and Ryan Beck are truly obsessed with the 80s horror movie Nightmare on Elm St. so much so that when it came around to them to curate our next project they jumped at the chance to utilize their shared love. They approached artists and explained its theme, loosely set in the vein of the 8 part franchise. What came out was over 40 artists contributing to the show, with everything from sculpture to drawing, painting to found objects, and everything in between.
I saw the work last night and it’s really amazing. Hilarious things and horrifying things. In short, exactly like the movies. I’m highly impressed by the talent that keeps coming to our space, it’s exciting to see how many amazingly gifted people we have in this city.
Here is a list of some of the people involved:
Nicole Dul, Brielle Duym, Mike Stein, Gerik Forston, Amanda Miller, Claire Folkman, Mike Frank, Tuesday Kay, Kyle Schmidt, John Stephenson, Gabrielle Miles Silverlight, Brieann Robyn, Don Vincent Ortega, Bill Mcright, Phoebe Zinman, Shira Walinsky, Adam Carrigan, Ali Williams, Katie VanVliet, Michael Squid, Alex Curtis, Matt Ashby, Josie Newman, Michael Bednar, Jen Petsko, Jason Andrew Turner, Erin Broadhurst, Adam Pietras, Ryan Beck, Lizzy Janssen, Audrey Fox, Miriam Singer, Perry W Fowler, Bill Sands, Angel O, Audrey Fox, Philippa Beardsley, Andrew Johnson-Lally, and many more!
