Reminder! Tonight! Things!
tonight is the night. its independence eve!

it has just been confirmed that we have a 100% awesome real life American Revolutionary War Reenactor coming to the Khyber this evening to back up our historical accuracy. the art works all in and we're jazzed!
like an exorcism, we're going to bring the ghost of patriotism out of your lungs. by nights end you'll be perched on a rooftop wearing nothing but an american flag screaming "FREEDOM" and "LIBERTY" as if you couldnt control yourself. oh, it will be sweet. when the dust settles and you wipe the last drop of free pbr from your lips, you too will be overcome with MERICA and your heart will be complete.

also, Lizzy Janssen is having an amazing solo show right down the road at Vagabond in Old City (37 N. 3rd street). Under the influence of muggy summer nights, overgrown weeds, and the lackadaisical comfort of new moons she hands us a collection of drawings, and paintings that are perfect for a glass of lemonade or jumping on a trampoline in the middle of a field. Come soak it all in at vagabond from 6-9.

1306.27 miles from kingston. (compound mixtapes)

aaaaaand we're back with another compound mixtape.
this is part two! the sequel! which you can thank the slow wide turns of Mr. Justin Berry for making.
He gave me this mix probably two weeks ago and so far i've been slacking on posting it. in fact, i'm pretty sure that after you listen to it youre going to be mellowed out for the same amount of time. toes in the sand, sun overhead. this reggie heavy mix will have you melting into your chair, transforming your headphones into giant window units that'll paralyze you in a green, yellow, red, and black haze of comfort. jah bless justin, jah bless.

THIS FRIDAY!!!!! INDEPENDENCE EVE!!!!!!!!

this lovely corner of america (the compound) was politely invited to curate and host an art show in another lovely corner of america (upstairs @ The Khyber) and we lovingly excepted.
come to 56 S. 2nd street this friday night for a once in an evening opportunity to celebrate what we are affectionately calling "independence eve" because we are true patriotic-red-blooded-flag-flying-hippy-hating-thumbs-up-giving-xenophobic heros of the world!
there will be paintings, drawings, and a bunch of other stuff from a bunch of wonderful americans, a few of english girls trying to gain it all back, and absolutely no commies. oh. and if thats not all, theres free beer thanks to the wonderful people at Pabst Blue Ribbon (thanks ya'll!).
so come ring in the greatest day on earth from 7-10, July 3rd! we'll see you there with art on!

Professionally Speaking
Concerning the girl with the stars on her face in the previous post.
For those of you who don't know the story she claims she asked for 3 stars, fell asleep in the chair and woke up with 56 stars.
I say fuck her. She is full of shit. There is no way someone can sleep through that. Just think of when a friend passes out early from drinking. It is hard as hell to get them not to move and even harder to draw a straight line on them. And don't lie to yourself and say you've never drawn on someone passed out or at least witnessed it.
If you look at that tattoo the line work is too clean for it to be on someone who was sleeping. She had to sit there and consciously not move, that is the only way that tattoo looks that good.
Also why wouldn't the sound of the machine wake her up. Let me tell you from experience that when you get tattooed on your neck area the sound of the machine is right in your ear. And it's not quiet. I imagine being tattooed on your face is even more awkward.
And finally why did he stop at 56 stars. Is he that good to know not to press his luck at 57. I would think that at some point if this was going on while she was sleeping, she would wake up and there would at least be one if not more stars unfinished on her face.
In Closing this rant I would like to say again fuck her for trying to give tattoo artists a bad name. She made a decision she regretted and it's on her. Bottom line is the guy did a clean solid tattoo. Cause I'll say this, if anyone asked me to tattoo there face like that I would. I would tell you people are gonna act a lot differently toward but in the end it's your decision to make and I'm not your fucking guidance counselor. I'm just a guy with a glorified sewing machine "trying to make a living and doing the best I can."
Sincerely,
